Abstract

The purpose of this research is the effectiveness of combined cognitive behavioral therapy and interaction analysis on the communication skills of adolescents with depression. The current research is a semi-experimental type. The statistical population of the current study includes all adolescents aged 13-17 years old with depression who referred to the Wise Life Counseling Center in Qom, and 30 of them (15 from each experimental and control group) were selected. The experimental group underwent 8 90-minute sessions of individual cognitive-behavioral therapy intervention, and at the same time, 10 90-minute sessions were subjected to mutual behavior analysis group therapy for the purpose of healing the inner damaged child. The results showed that the mean scores of communication skills in the pre-test of the experimental group was 56.60 and in the post-test it was 85.46. Also, in the pre-test of the control group, it is equal to 70.33 and in the post-test it is equal to 79.46. The communication skill scores increased more in the post-test of the experimental group and the comparison of the mean of the skill sub-scales shows that the increase in the scores in the experimental group (CBT& TA) was higher than the control group, i.e. only CBT, and the F value between the two experimental and control groups by keeping the pre-test effect equal to 8.26 and its significance level is 0.008. Therefore, it can be concluded that the combined treatment of CBT & TA increases the communication skills of adolescents and the effect of the treatment on increasing the communication skills is 23%.
