Abstract
This research was conducted with the aim of investigating the effectiveness of positive psychotherapy on the psychological well-being and cognitive flexibility of women who have experienced betrayal. The pre-test-post-test design of this research was equal to the control group and was considered a quasi-experimental design. The statistical population of the present study included all the women who experienced infidelity who went to one of the counseling and psychological centers in Hamedan city or the family court in 2024 and due to the lack of access to the studied community in Hamedan city, the number of this community is unlimited in considered The statistical sample in this study was available in a targeted manner, so that these 30 people, after selection, were completely randomly divided into two equal groups: experiment (15 people) and control (15 people). The average psychological well-being of the control group was not significantly different in the pre-test and post-test conditions. While in the experimental group, the mean scores of psychological well-being increased from pre-test to post-test. On the other hand, the mean cognitive flexibility of the control group was not significantly different in the pre-test and post-test conditions. While in the experimental group, the mean scores of cognitive flexibility increased from pre-test to post-test. The results indicate that the level of psychological well-being and cognitive flexibility among betrayed women in Hamadan city has increased after positive psychotherapy. The results of statistical analysis showed that positive psychotherapy has an effect on the psychological well-being and cognitive flexibility of betrayed women. Also, the size of the effect shows that positive-oriented psychotherapy is more effective on the cognitive flexibility of betrayed women in Hamedan and can increase their cognitive flexibility. It was also concluded from the eta square that positive psychotherapy has an effect of approximately 34% on psychological well-being and approximately 84% on cognitive flexibility.
